Effects of calcium Alkaline ionized drinking water on the formation and maintenance of bone tissue in rat were investigated. In the absence of calcium in the diet, no obvious calcification was observed, and inly osteoid formation was prominent. Striking difference was found in the froups with diet of 30% and 60% calcium; rats with calcium alkaline ionized water showed least osteogenesis disturbance. These results may indicate that calsium in drinking water may effectively supplement osteogenesis in case of dietary calcium deficiency. Theeffects of ionized water on formation and maintaining of bone during aging were also demonstrated. The mechnisms involved in these effects will be discussed. |
